Dependence on the r-centroid of the band-intensities of the γ system of nitric oxide

Abstract

The γ-bands of nitric oxide were excited by an electric discharge, and by irradiation with a xenon arc, and the intensities were recorded by plate photometry. The relative transition-probabilities were in satisfactory agreement with Morse Franck-Condon factors, with the electronic transition moment varying by about 40 % in the r-centroid range 1.0–1.2 Å. The results indicated that the R.K.R. Franck-Condon factors for this system have been incorrectly computed.
