Studies on seven-membered-ring derivatives. Part V. α-Halogenoperhydro-3,8-dimethylazulen-5-one

Abstract

(–)- and (+)-Perhydro-3,8-dimethylazulen-5-one have been brominated; the former gave two monobromoketones and the latter one monobromo-ketone. The stereochemistry of these α-bromo-ketones is discussed in the light of infrared and ultraviolet spectra and optical rotatory dispersion studies.
