The catalytic action of anionic catalysts. Part XI. The reaction of t-butyl-lithium with fluorene and with 1,1-diphenylethylene in benzene solution

Abstract

Experiments involving the interaction of t-butyl-lithium with fluorene and with 1,1-diphenylethylene in benzene solution are described. The order of reaction in t-butyl-lithium is one quarter in both cases, compared with a value of one sixth for n-butyl-lithium. Thermodynamic constants for these reactions have been measured.
