The electron spin resonance spectra of some arylsulphonyl free radicals

Abstract

The e.s.r. spectra of arylsulphonyl free radicals show only small hyperfine splittings, the coupling with aromatic ortho hydrogens being greater than with a para hydrogen. This shows that these radicals have a significant degree of σ-character.
