The spectra and structure of aluminium chloride complexes. Part I

Abstract

The infrared spectra of the complexes AlCl3,Me2O,AlCl3,Et2O,AlCl3,MeNO2, and Al Cl3,PhNO2, have been examined over the range 4000–80 cm.–1. Complete interpretation of the spectra in terms of the valence changes occurring in the ligands on complexing, and the structures of the resulting complexes, is achieved with the help of model calculations.
