Benzynequinone

Abstract

Cyclohex-1-en-4-yn-3,6-dione (benzynequinone)(III) is generated by oxidation of 1-aminobenzotriazole-4,7-dione (II) with lead tetra-acetate, and isolated as 5,6,7,8-tetraphenyl-1,4-naphthaquinone (IV)(40%) from a reaction with tetracyclone.
