Visible light-initiated interfacial thiol-norbornene photopolymerization for forming an islet surface conformal coating†
Abstract
A cytocompatible visible light-mediated interfacial thiol-norbornene photopolymerization scheme was developed for creating a hydrogel conformal coating on pancreatic islets. The step-growth thiol-norbornene reaction provides high consistency and tunability to gel coating thickness. Furthermore, isolated islets coated with thiol-norbornene gel maintained their viability and function in vitro.
