Ionic liquid-assisted synthesis of WO3 particles with enhanced gas sensing properties
Abstract
An ionic liquid-assisted synthesis route is proposed for the synthesis of WO3 particles. The synthesized WO3 particles include nanoplates, nanorods and nanoparticle-constructed spheres, which can be well controlled by the ionic liquids. Specifically, the gas sensing properties of the synthesized WO3 spheres to various organic compounds (methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, ethyl acetate and toluene) exhibit remarkable sensitivities, low detection limits, and fast response/recovery times, which demonstrates their useful applications in the detection of various organic compounds.
