Mesoporous hollow PtCu nanoparticles for electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction

Abstract

The synthesis of mesoporous Pt–Cu hollow nanoparticles is reported using copper nanoparticles as seeds in aqueous solution for the first time. The hollow nanoparticles show seven times higher specific activity and much better stability towards the oxygen reduction reaction than state-of-the-art Pt/C catalysts.
