Self-assembled porous ceria nanostructures with excellent water solubility and antioxidant properties

Abstract

We successfully fabricated self-assembled porous ceria nanostructures with excellent water solubility induced by β-cyclodextrin in a hydrothermal system. The results of antioxidant tests also reveal that hydrogen peroxide and peroxyl radicals can diffuse through the hydrophilic β-CD coating and oxidize Ce3+ to Ce4+, which reduces stress and harm to tested cells.
