A heteropolyacid-based ionic liquid immobilized onto Fe3O4/SiO2/salen/Mn as an environmentally friendly catalyst in a multi-component reaction

Abstract

Magnetite–polyoxometalate hybrid nanomaterials, Fe3O4/SiO2/salen/Mn/IL/HPW, were prepared by grafting H3PW12O40 on ionic liquid-functionalized Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles. This catalyst is a recoverable catalyst, for the one-pot synthesis of thiazoloquinolines, in high to excellent yield under solvent-free conditions. The MNPs-HPW catalyst was characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). Moreover, the catalyst could be easily recovered by magnetic separation and recycled ten times without significant loss of its catalytic activity.
