Application of TiO2 nanoparticles for the synthesis of N-arylureas in water at room temperature

Abstract

This paper reports on the application of efficient, easily recoverable and reusable TiO2 nanoparticles as a heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of N-arylureas in water at room temperature. The catalyst was characterized using the powder XRD, BET and TEM. The significant advantages of TiO2 nanoparticles, such as high yields, elimination of organic solvents, simple work-up procedure, mild reaction conditions and as an alternative to those corrosive, hazardous and polluting homogeneous catalysts, warrant its potential application in industrial.
