The manufacture of porous cuprous oxide film with photocatalytic properties via an electrochemical–chemical combination method

Abstract

In order to fabricate a porous cuprous oxide film with photocatalytic performance, a novel electrochemical anodization and chemical foaming combination method was designed. Copper foil was first anodized in acidic ammonium chloride electrolyte, then it was foamed in a hydrogen peroxide solution and the spongy-structured cuprous oxide film was finally achieved. This porous cuprous oxide film presents higher photocatalytic activity than ordinary cuprous oxide microcrystalline films due to its larger specific surface area.
