Two isomorphous azide/formate Mn(ii) coordination polymers show spin-canted antiferromagnetism only in the formate system

Abstract

Two isostructural 3D complexes [Mn(L)(N3)·MeOH]n (1) and [Mn(L)(HCO2)·MeOH]n (2) (HL = pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid) were synthesized by using a solvothermal method. Magnetic studies indicate that 1 was a strong antiferromagnet, whereas 2 was a weak antiferromagnet with TN 38.5 K.
