Bioinspired hierarchically hairy particles for robust superhydrophobic coatings via a droplet dynamic template method

Abstract

A one-pot large scale synthesis method for Hierarchically Hairy Particles (HHPs) is introduced by using initiator droplets as dynamic templates; the microstructure and composition tunable HHPs were optimized to mimic the papilla of a lotus leaf, achieving a robust superhydrophobic coating with excellent water-repellent, self-cleaning and anticorrosive properties.
