The chemistry (isolation, biosynthesis and synthesis) and biological activities of natural products bearing a guanidine function are reviewed, including macrocyclic derivatives from terrestrial microbes, peptides from cyanobacteria and guanidine alkaloids from marine invertebrates. The review contains 258 references.
