Synthesis of monoclinic monazite, LaPO4, by direct precipitation

Abstract

The direct synthesis of LaPO4 and La0.96Sr0.04PO4monazite using nitrates and phosphoric acid to produce uniform and non-agglomerated monazite powders without the formation of any intermediate hydrated rhabdophane phase (LaPO4·½H2O) is described.
