Combined powder X-ray and neutron diffraction study of the mixed uranium–vanadium oxide, UV3O10

Abstract

The crystal structure of UV3O10 has been determined using Rietveld analysis of combined powder time-of-flight neutron and powder X-ray data [spacegroup Fddd, Z= 8; a= 6.9426(2)Å, b= 12.0554(3)Å, c= 16.2228(3)Å, V= 1357.77(3)Å3]. The compound has a pillared layer structure and can be formulated as UVIVIV(VV)2O10.
