The N-methyl derivatives of 1,3-diamino-2-phenylnaphthalene

Abstract

The nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of 1,3-diamino-2-phenylnaphthalene is that of an aromatic diamine and affords no evidence of a tautomeric imino-form. The so-called “α-dimethyl” derivative is 1-dimethylamino-3-methylamino-2-phenylnaphthalene. The isomeric 1-amino-3-dimethylamino- and 3-amino-1-dimethylamino-2-phenylnaphthalenes are described.
