The stereochemistry of organometallic compounds. Part XI. The variable temperature nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of di-µ-chloro-bis-[(α,1,2-trihapto-3,3,5,5-tetramethylmethylenecyclohexane)-palladium(II)]

Abstract

The synthesis and variable-temperature n.m.r. spectra of di-µ-chloro-bis-[(α,1,2-trihapto-3,3,5,5-tetramethylmethylenecyclohexane)palladium(II)] are described. The spectra give convincing evidence for the σπ mechanism of exchange in dynamic π-allylic palladium systems and illustrate the general utility of 3,3,5,5-tetramethylmethylenecyclohexane as a ligand for the investigation of the dynamic stereochemistry of olefin and π-allylic metal systems.
