The conformational analysis of saturated heterocycles. Part XII. Conformations of 1-alkyl-4-t-butylpiperazines from electric dipole moment studies

Abstract

An improved technique for the measurement of electric dipole moments is described. The dipole moments of 1-alkyl-4-t-butylpiperazines indicate that the axial–equatorial conformational equilibria for N-methyl and N-ethyl groups is predominantly in favour of the conformer with axial lone pair and equatorial alkyl group.
