Fluorite formation in biological and mineralogical systems. Part I. The transformation calcite fluorite in aqueous fluoride solutions

Abstract

The F-diffusion controlled transformation of calcite into fluorite was carried out in 1·0, 10–1, and 10–2M solutions of NaF at 25 °C. Activity diagrams have been constructed to show phase equilibria in the CaF2–CaCO3–H2O system at 25 °C under aqueous conditions. The value of ΔG0f(CaF2(c)) has been recalculated as –278·68 kcal mol–1.
