Some phosphine-substituted carbonyl-π-cyclopentadienyl complexes of molybdenum and tungsten

Abstract

The preparation of some new complexes of the type [(π-C5H5)M(CO)2(L)]2Hg and (π-C5H5)M(CO)2(L)HgX [M = Mo, W; L = P(OMe)3, P(OPh)3, PPh3; X = Cl, Br, I] is reported. These are reduced by sodium amalgam, and subsequent treatment with acetic acid or methyl iodide yields new hydride and alkyl complexes. Many of the complexes exist in solution as mixtures of two isomers and the equilibrium between these has been investigated.
