Addition compounds of triphenylphosphine sulphide with mercury(II) and copper(I) halides

Abstract

The preparation and characterisation of the 1 : 1 addition compounds, (Ph3PS)HgCl2, (Ph3PS)HgBr2, (Ph3PS)Hgl2, (Ph3PS)CuCl, and (Ph3PS)CuBr are described. Their infrared spectra, for the region 1500–400 cm.–1, and unit cell dimensions and contents from X-ray diffraction data are reported. The donor properties of triphenylphosphine sulphide are discussed.
