Ionic liquids via efficient, solvent-free anion metathesis

Abstract

A range of electrophilic reagents have been found to facilitate simultaneous halide-trapping/anion metathesis of halide-containing salts in the absence of solvent to afford ionic liquids bearing non-nucleophilic, non-coordinating anions.
