Detection of sensor poisoning using self-diagnostic gas sensors

Abstract

Gas-sensitive resistors consisting of semiconducting metal oxides can be irreversibly poisoned by siliceous material, produced by the thermal decomposition of silicone rubber. A novel electrode geometry allows such poisoning to be detected.
