Non-linear dielectric study of dipolar association of nitrocyclohexane in cyclohexane

Abstract

The non-linear dielectric effect (n.d.e.) has been studied for nitrocyclohexane in cyclohexane and the correlation factors Rp and Rs determined. Assuming the simplest process of dipole association, i.e. dimerization, the molar fractions of dimers x2 and monomers x1, as well as the dipole moment µdim of the dimers, are calculated. The equilibrium constant, Kx, and free enthalpy, ΔG, of the dimerization process and the structure of the dimer are determined.
