Electron energy loss spectrum of ethylene

Abstract

A threshold electron energy-loss spectrum of ethylene, obtained using the trapped-electron technique, locates an optically forbidden electronic transition at about 7.8 eV (159 nm). Vibrational structure is resolved for the 2B3u resonance, starting at 6.6 eV.
