Solute orientation effects in adsorption liquid chromatography

Abstract

A quasi-chemical method for calculating the distribution ratio is extended to solutes having complex molecular structures and geometry. The retention behaviour of such solutes in pure and mixed multicomponent solvents is discussed. Solute orientation effects in liquid–solid chromatography are analysed. Moreover, isomer separation based on shape selectivity is considered.
