Electron spin resonance studies of the radicals formed from C-nitroso compounds and olefins. Part 4.—Reactions of alicyclic olefins with C-nitroso compounds

Abstract

We have investigated the radicals produced via‘ene’ reactions of nitroso compounds with alkenes. Distinctions have been made between these radicals and those produced from photolytic reactions. A study has also been made of the radicals generated when nitroso compounds are photolysed in a variety of solvents in the absence of alkenes: for aromatic solvents, not all the radicals detected can be assigned to diaryl or dialkyl nitroxides.
