Dipole moments of electron donor-acceptor complexes of iodine with oxygen bases

Abstract

Dipole moments of electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes of iodine with dimethyl sulphoxide, tri-n-octylphosphine oxide, pyridine-N-oxide, 4-picoline-N-oxide and triphenylarsine oxide have been measured in benzene solutions. Some conclusions have been drawn concerning the contributions of dative structures and of the inductive effect.
