Structure and magnetic properties of a decanuclear MnII2MnIII2Dy6 aggregate

Abstract

Using glycerol (H3gly) as a primary ligand, the decanuclear aggregate [MnII2MnIII2DyIII63-OH)2(Hgly)4(H2gly)2(PhCO2)16(H2O)2]·10CH3CN (1) has been synthesised; it has a structure built up from two Mn2Dy2 heterocubane units linked through a central Dy2(μ-benzoate)4 paddle-wheel dimer and shows slow relaxation of its magnetisation.
