Synthesis and characterisation of zinc gallyl complexes: First structural elucidations of Zn–Ga bonds

Abstract

Reactions of the anionic gallium(I) heterocycle, [:Ga{[N(Ar)C(H)]2}] (Ar = C6H3Pri2-2,6), with two N,N-chelated zinc chloride complexes have yielded the compounds, [{Pri2NC[N(Ar)]2}ZnGa{[N(Ar)C(H)]2}] and [(tmeda)Zn{Ga{[N(Ar)C(H)]2}}2] which contain the first crystallographically characterised Zn–Ga bonds.
