Carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance study of complexes of the type [Os3(CO)10H(X)]

Abstract

A variable-temperature 13C n.m.r. spectroscopic study of complexes [Os3(CO)10H(X)](X = SEt, SPh, NBunH, OH, Cl, Br, I, CO2Me, or CO2CF3) has, in some instances, given conclusive proof of a carbonyl-exchange process involving polytopal rearrangement in an [Os(CO)4] unit.
