Acetates and acetate-complexes. Part 1. Preparation of acetato-complexes and conductimetric studies in the acetic anhydride solvent system

Abstract

Preparations using acetic anhydride as solvent are reported for B2O(O2CMe)4, AlCl(O2CMe)4, [TiO(O2CMe)2]. Ti(O2CMe)4·2MeCO2H, and M(O2CMe)4(M = Zr, Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb). Conductimetric titrations against potassium or tetramethylammonium acetate indicate the formation of [B2O(O2CMe)5], [B2O(O2CMe)6]2–, [M2(02CMe)9], [M(O2Me)5], and [M(02CMe)6]2–(M = Si. Ge, Sn. and Pb); the salts Na[B2O(O2CMe)5], and K2[M(O2CMe)6](M = Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb). K2[Sn(O2CMe)]·(MeCO)2O, and [NMe4][Sn(O2CMe)5] have been isolated. Evidence for the nature of the solvent system is discussed.
