Complexes as metalloligands in network formation: synthesis and characterisation of a mixed-metal coordination network containing palladium and zinc

Abstract

[Zn4(PdCl2)2(pydc)4(H2O)4(THF)6]·3.25THF (H2pydc = 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid) was formed from the reaction between Zn(NO3)2·6 H2O and trans-[PdCl2(pydc)2] in THF, and was shown by X-ray crystallography to have a three-dimensional network structure in which {PdCl2(pydc)2}4 metalloligands are linked by Zn2 centres to form a mixed-metal coordination network.
