Enhanced photooxidation sensitizers: the first examples of cyclometalated pyrene complexes of iridium(iii)

Abstract

The iridium(III) cyclometalation of alkylated pyrenebenzimidazole ligands proceeds in an unprecedented manner. The resultant complexes display remarkably enhanced photooxidation capabilities using 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene as a substrate.
