Lewis acid mediated P–P bond hydrogenation and hydrosilylation

Abstract

The reaction of H2, R3SiH or R2SiH2 with P5Ph5 in the presence of stoichiometric B(C6F5)3 results in excellent yields of the phosphineborane adducts (PhPH2)B(C6F5)3, ((R3Si)PhPH)B(C6F5)3 and ((R2SiH)PhPH)B(C6F5)3, respectively.
