Water adsorption on a liquid surface

Abstract

Monolayer adsorption of water onto an ionic liquid in ultra-high vacuum has been demonstrated, revealing a heat of adsorption which exceeds the heat of absorption into the bulk liquid by ≈40 kJ mol–1.
