Asymmetric synthesis of (+)-loline

Abstract

The first asymmetric synthesis of (+)-loline has been achieved in 20 steps from (−)-malic acid by a route incorporating intramolecular hetero-Diels–Alder cycloaddition of an acylnitrosodiene.
