The structure of the S6-symmetric methanol hexamer assembled in a supramolecular hydrophobic cavity
Abstract
The structure of the cyclic S6-symmetric hexamer of methanol has been established by X-ray crystallography in crystals of [GaLF3](MeOH)6/2·(MeOH)3·CH2Cl2 1; the hexamer has been proposed to be the dominant species in liquid methanol.
