Synthesis and characterisation of the potassium 1,1-dithiolate C12H20N2S2K2: a novel K12S12 cluster compound

Abstract

The carbene adduct 1 reacts with potassium to give the potassium 1,1-dithiolate 2; its tetrahydrofuran adduct exhibits a cage structure consisting of a hexagonal K 6 S 6 prism incorporated into a twelve-membered K 6 S 6 ring connected both by direct K–S bonds and vinylidene type bridges.
