Unusual six- and eight-coordinated cadmium(II) malonate complex: relevance to 113Cd NMR probe of metal binding sites on metalloproteins

Abstract

The 113Cd NMR spectrum of polymeric tetraaquobis(malonato)dicadmium(II)1 is characterized by two resonances and its crystal structure shows two cadmium sites in distinct chemical environments; the six- and eight-coordinate sites formed by oxygen donors are correlated with chemical shifts at δ 18 and –107, respectively.
