Tertiary phosphines and P-chiral phosphinites bearing a fullerene substituent

Abstract

The reaction of a lithiated phosphine–borane or a phosphinite borane with C60 followed by removal of the BH3 group affords a phosphine or a phosphinite bearing a fullerene substituent, which undergoes complexation with BH3 and PtCl2 selectively on the phosphorus atom with 1 : 1 and 2 : 1 stoichiometry.
