Unusual initial product distributions for cyclopentane/D2 exchange reactions on Pt catalysts: remarkable effect of MgO as support

Abstract

Initial deuterio-isomer distribution patterns in cyclopentane/D2 exchange reactions at 343 K reflect Pd-like character on Pt/MgO in sharp contrast to Pt/SiO2 or Pt/Al2O3, indicating a support effect, which may explain the enhanced behaviour of Pt/MgO catalysts for aromatisation reactions.
