Structure of cleaved surfaces of gypsum studied with atomic force microscopy

Abstract

Atomic force microscopic (AFM) observation of cleaved surfaces of gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O) clearly shows the arrangement of oxygen atoms belonging to sulphate groups and water molecules at the surface.
