A new co-ordinating role for a metal salicylaldimine

Abstract

Air oxidation of (Culpy)4(py = pyridine) in acetone in the presence of Ni(mepren)(H2mepren =N,N′-1,3-propylenebis-salicylidineamine) yields the ionic complex [{Ni(OH)}2{Ni(H2O)2(mepren)}2](Cu2l4), the cation of which contains the nickel salicylaldimine molecules co-ordinated in a novel fashion to [Ni-µ-(OH)]22+.
