The crystal structure of a hexanuclear mixed thiophenolato-alkynyl copper(I) complex: [Cu3{SC6H4(CH2NMe2)-2}2(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBut)]2: a model for electron deficient organocopper(I) complexes with cuprate reactivity

Abstract

The hexanuclear copper compound [Cu3{SC6H4(CH2NMe2)-2}2(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBut)]2, formed from the reaction of [CuSC6H4(CH2NMe2)-2]3 with LiC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CBut, has a structure based on the conjuction of two identical trinuclear units each of which contains two co-ordinatively saturated copper atoms and one unsaturated copper atom; the compound has a new alkynyl to copper bonding mode that links the two trinuclear units together.
