Synthesis and X-ray crystal and molecular structure of the palladium–molybdenum carbonyl cluster Na2{Pd4[CpMo(CO)3]4}·2THF (THF = tetrahydrofuran; Cp =η5-cyclopentadienyl)

Abstract

The anionic octanuclear cluster Na2{Pd4[CpMo(CO)3]4}· 2THF (THF = tetrahydrofuran; Cp =η5-cyclopentadienyl) with a completely planar metal core, contains palladium in an unusual formal oxidation state + 1/2 and has been obtained by the reaction of Pd4(CO)4(OAc)4 with Na[CpMo(CO)3], and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction.
