The reactivity of Cu(tim)2+(tim = 2,3,9,10-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradeca-1,3,8,10-tetraene) with chloride ion: an unusually large formation constant

Abstract

The reaction of Cu(tim)2+(tim = 2,3,9,10-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradeca-1,3,8,10-tetraene) with Cl ion was studied by cyclic voltammetry; the formation constant for the Cu(tim)Cl+ adduct was determined by a computer simulated cyclic voltammogram and found to be unusually large: β1= 2 × 107 dm3 mol–1.
